Happenings in November 2011

November is here, arriving with a blanket of heavy rainclouds and a colder bite to the air. It’s time to hibernate a little more, and infuse our lives with some creativity to warm us while the sun is farther away.

Two items are noteworthy in studio happenings. (Note – this is an old post from my previous website. The following exhibit and class are no longer available.)

I have a linocut print call “Ravens’ Nest” in an exhibit with the Island Illustrators Society. The exhibit is called Celebrate Success: 25 Years of the Island Illustrators Society. Location is the Gallery Cafe at Cedar Hill Recreation Centre, 3220 Cedar Hill Road, Victoria, BC. The show runs from Oct. 27th to Nov. 27th, 2011 and is accessible during recreation centre hours. The exhibit marks the 25th anniversary of the Island Illustrators Society and is definitely worth a visit.

2011 – 14×18 inches. Two plate linocut print on rice paper, 2 of an edition of 4. There is a family of ravens who nest near our house every year. They’ve had such success with their babies that now there are new nesting sites every spring made by the younger generation.

The other news item is an upcoming printmaking class I am teaching at the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre. Here is the write up for the program from the WestShore Parks and Recreation guide:

That’s all my news for now. Best wishes to everyone!
